Video Episodes on Spotify

At Buzzsprout, we love how audio podcasts offer an easy way for listeners to enjoy your show from anywhere, whether they’re driving, cleaning, or relaxing at home. And, as podcasters start incorporating video components, we want to make sure you have that option, too! 

You can continue publishing your audio episodes through Buzzsprout, while also putting your video content on Spotify. Here's how! 

Step 1: Connect Your Buzzsprout Account to Spotify

First, you'll list your show on Spotify through Buzzsprout.
  • Add Your Email to Your RSS Feed. In Buzzsprout, go to Directories > Email Verification, enter your email address, and click Add to Feed. Spotify needs to verify that you own your podcast in order for you to upload videos, and this step will make sure you're set up to do just that! 
  • List Your Podcast on Spotify. Head to your Directories page in your Buzzsprout account. All you'll need to do is click Get Listed under Spotify. Within a few hours, your audio episodes will play on your new Spotify listing!  

Step 2: Claim Your Podcast on Spotify for Creators 

Go to Spotify for Creators and click Get Started. Log in or create a new Spotify account. If you run into any issues, check out Spotify's help article. Once you log in, select Find an Existing Show and click Somewhere Else.

Now, you’ll be prompted to enter your Buzzsprout RSS feed URL. Find this under Directories > RSS Feed in your Buzzsprout account, where you can copy and paste it back into Spotify.

Spotify will then send a verification code to the email address in your RSS feed. Copy that 8-digit code and paste it into the submit form. If you aren't receiving the verification email, here's a helpful article from Spotify. Enter your podcast details for location, language, and category. Press Next and...

... now you'll be able to see your podcast on your Spotify for Creators dashboard! 

Step 3: Upload Your Video Episode

In Spotify for Creators, navigate to the podcast you want to include video episodes for. If you have multiple podcasts, select it from the sidebar or choose All Podcasts. Find the episode you’d like to convert to a video, click the three dots next to it, and select Upload Video. Then just choose the video file from your device!

After it’s uploaded, preview the episode and click Publish when you're ready for it to go live! Now, you'll be able to see the video version of your podcast alongside your audio episodes on your Spotify listing!

Note: Spotify accepts MOV, MPG, and MP4 video files. They don't have a file size limit, but larger files will take more time to process.

A few things to note: 

  • Audio Version on Buzzsprout: You'll still add your audio episodes to Buzzsprout as usual, and they'll appear on your Spotify listing within a few hours. The only change is that you'll upload your video episodes directly to Spotify for Creators. 
  • Stats on Buzzsprout:  Because of how Spotify tracks video stats, the views from the episodes that you convert to video episodes won't show in your Buzzsprout Stats. But, you'll be able to see those stats in your Spotify for Creators account. All Spotify downloads from your other audio episodes will still show in Buzzsprout! 
  • Multiple Team Members: If you have multiple team members, you can each have access to the same podcast using the steps above. Each team member needs their own Spotify account and access to the email address in the RSS feed.
